BROOKLYN ARTS COUNCIL extends an invitation to Brooklyn arts organizations of all disciplines to submit a Letter of Interest for a Destination>Brooklyn grant. This grant is a marketing/promotional support opportunity through One Brooklyn Fund, funded by NYC & Company Foundation, the philanthropic arm of New York City’s tourism industry. Destination>Brooklyn is designed to amplify the city’s appeal as a culturally vibrant destination by funding the promotion of not-for-profit arts and cultural events and programs in all five boroughs. Five (5) $3,000 awards will be issued to selected grantees.

BROOKLYN ARTS COUNCIL catalyzes dynamic cultural interventions for an inclusive, sustainable, and vibrant Brooklyn and beyond. Through funding, incubating, education, training, advocacy, production, and cultural preservation, Brooklyn Arts Council amplifies the arts as an engine of innovation, inclusivity, sustainability, and expression within a vibrant social ecology.

As a grantmaker driven by the values of diversity, equity, access, and inclusion, Brooklyn Arts Council supports the work of artists and arts organizations to enhance the cultural climate of their communities and raise the profile of Brooklyn as an arts center in the city.

Brooklyn Arts Council is pleased to employ our expertise by partnering with the Borough President’s One Brooklyn Fund to administer NYC & Company Foundation’s Destination>Brooklyn grant to Brooklyn arts organizations.

TO APPLY

Organizations interested in applying for the Destination>Brooklyn grant opportunity must submit a Letter of Interest form, accessible here, to Brooklyn Arts Council. Brooklyn Arts Council will consult with The Office of the Borough President to select applicants invited to submit full proposals and ensure that submitted proposals fulfill all NYC & Company Foundation requirements. Letters of Intent will be due on Friday, January 24, 2020 at 11:59pm.

Monday March 16, 2020 - Brooklyn Arts Council releases RFP to invited organizations

Wednesday, April 15, 2020 - Proposals due to Brooklyn Arts Council

Friday, May 15, 2020 - Grantee notifications released

ELIGIBILITY

Must be registered as a 501(c)3 with the State of New York.
Projects must fall primarily within calendar year 2020.
Projects eligible for funding shall include:
Printing and distribution of promotional materials for cultural institutions, programs, and events (i.e. brochures, digital content, maps, paid media, posters, and/or videos)
Research to evaluate existing cultural events or programs (including audience and impact).

Non-eligible Costs for funding include, but are not limited to:

Salary and/or benefits for staff, consultants (including designers), or certain contractors, i.e. hiring of street teams.
Capital projects, rent, and/or structural rehabilitation
Travel and entertainment
Membership dues or fees
Office supplies or overhead (i.e. admin, insurance, postage, etc.)
Business-to-business projects
Promotion of for-profit entities or individuals
Promotion of organizations outside of New York City
Any activities associated with political campaigning or lobbying
Individuals or scholarship-granting organizations, and fiscal conduits or sponsors are ineligible.
